I was in good shape, working out with a trainer curling 40 pound weights, and doing a ton of squats and lunges, but my knees were hurting and I was bulking up and feeling tight. LESSON LEARNED: Never too late to try something new.
I was intimidated. What's wrong with a little middle age girth? All my life I have been an active woman engaging in a vast array of fitness routines. As an adult, I went to aerobic classes in the 80's, ran in Corporate Challenges, swam at The Connection, then fast walked with dear girlfriends. LESSON LEARNED: Focus, form and fun!

One of the main reasons for my lack of exercise was due to a severe knee injury almost 20 years ago – I had shattered my right kneecap and severed many ligaments and tendons in a car accident. I had reconstructive surgery and did rehab for 2 years to get the strength and range of motion back that I had lost (my knee had extensive atrophy)....
